Optimum configuration of a Palworld server: the PalWorldSettings.ini file

The art of configuring a Palworld server lies in the fine-tuning of its PalWorldSettings.ini file. This guide will take you through the details of each setting, allowing you to create a bespoke gaming experience for your players.

How do I set up the PalWorldSettings.ini file?

The PalWorldSettings.ini file is generally located in the Saved/Config/LinuxServer directory of your server. On our servers with our Palworld offers, the file is located in the Pal/Saved/Config/LinuxServerfolder.

To configure your server, it must be stopped. You must also add this line at the top of the file (mandatory)

[/script/pal.palGameWorldSettings]
OptionSettings= (YOUR_PARAMETERS)

VOS_PARAMETRES must be replaced by the game settings (the main settings are below). Here’s an example of how to change the time of the day/night cycle.

[/script/pal.palGameWorldSettings]
OptionSettings=(dayTimeSpeedRate=1.000000)

✂ Notes before configuring your server :

  • Back up before changing: Always create a backup copy before making any major changes.
  • Test your settings: After changing any settings, test them to make sure they work as expected.
  • Restart the server: Don’t forget to restart your server for the changes to take effect.

Essential settings and examples

  1. DayTimeSpeedRate and NightTimeSpeedRate: These parameters control the speed of the day/night cycle. For example, DayTimeSpeedRate=0.500000 will slow down the progression of the day.
  2. Experience Rate (ExpRate): Adjusts the rate at which players gain experience. ExpRate=2.000000 will double the experience gained.
  3. Pal capture rate (PalCaptureRate): Determines how easy it is to capture Pal creatures. PalCaptureRate=1.500000 will increase the chance of capture by 50%.
  4. Damage and defence (PalDamageRateAttack, PalDamageRateDefense): Modifies the rate of damage inflicted and received by Pal creatures. For example, PalDamageRateAttack=1.200000 will increase the damage inflicted by Pal creatures by 20%.
  5. Hunger and stamina management (PlayerStomachDecreaseRate, PlayerStaminaDecreaseRate): Controls the rate at which hunger and stamina decrease. Reducing PlayerStomachDecreaseRate=0.800000 will decrease the rate at which hunger decreases.
  6. Health regeneration (PlayerAutoHPRegeneRate, PalAutoHPRegeneRate): Adjusts the health regeneration rate. Increasing PlayerAutoHPRegeneRate=1.500000 will speed up the player’s health regeneration.
  7. Item drop rate (CollectionDropRate, EnemyDropItemRate): Changes how often items are dropped. EnemyDropItemRate=1.500000 means that enemies will drop items 50% more often.
  8. Gameplay options (bEnablePlayerToPlayerDamage, bEnableFriendlyFire): Enables or disables player-to-player damage and friendly fire. Setting bEnablePlayerToPlayerDamage=true will allow players to inflict damage on each other.
  9. Server security and management (ServerName, AdminPassword, ServerPassword): Allows you to customise the server name and set passwords for added security.
  10. Server and Guild capacity (GuildPlayerMaxNum, CoopPlayerMaxNum): Determines the maximum number of players in a guild or co-op. GuildPlayerMaxNum=20 will allow up to 20 players in a guild.
