How do I install a 7 Days to Die server on 1.0?

7 Days to Die 1.0 has been available to install on the experimental branch since 24 June. Follow these two simple steps to start your adventure on one of the game’s biggest updates!

Prerequisites

Before you start, make sure you have a server to run the game. Our 7 Days to Die server packages allow you to create a server in less than 60 seconds!

Step 1: Configure the right branch

  1. Connect to your server management dashboard . This can be your dedicated server provider’s dashboard or any other interface you use to manage your server online.
  2. Find the section where you can configure or modify your server settings. This varies between platforms, but is usually titled something like “Server Settings” or “Game Configuration”. On Oxygenserv, the tab is called “Settings”.
  3. Locate the option to select the game version. By default, it could be set to the most recent stable version.
  4. Change this option to“latest_experimental“. This will ensure that your server downloads and installs the most recent version of 7 Days to Die, which is currently 1.0.

Step 2: Reinstall your server without deleting the files

Now that you’ve configured the settings, it’s time to proceed with the actual reinstallation. Don’t panic, it’s as simple as clicking a button, literally :

  1. On your dashboard, locate the “Reinstall server” option. Note that the wording of this option varies from one dashboard to another, but it should be fairly obvious. In our case, the button is always on the ‘Settings’ tab.
  2. Before launching the reinstallation, make sure there is an option to keep existing files (in particular so as not to lose previous data). If necessary, tick a box to keep files in place during reinstallation.
  3. Click on “Reinstall”. The server will now update itself with the new version while preserving your existing files.
